Turn Red

World AIDS Day, observed December 1 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. It is common to hold memorials to honor persons who have died from HIV/AIDS on this day. Government and health officials also observe the event, often with speeches or forums on the AIDS topics. But, raising awareness is not just on December 1 each year. It's should be at all time. Remember that.. :)

Ok, simply...do you know What is HIV?
HIV stands for 'human immunodeficiency virus'. HIV is a virus (of the type called
retrovirus) that infects cells of the human immune system (mainly CD4 positive T cells and macrophages—key components of the cellular immune system), and destroys or impairs their function. Infection with this virus results in the progressive deterioration of the immune system, leading to 'immune deficiency'.

Then, What is AIDS??
AIDS stands for 'acquired immunodeficiency syndrome' and is a surveillance definition based on signs, symptoms, infections, and cancers associated with the deficiency of the immune system that stems from infection with HIV.

It is a serious disease. Ain't kidding..
In 2009, more than 33 million people worldwide were living with HIV. That's up from 26.2 million in 1999. Despite that statistic, AIDS organizations say they are making progress in their efforts to control and eventually eradicate HIV/AIDS. Last year nearly half a million babies were born with HIV. By 2015, that number could be zero. Artists like Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats, have announced they are digitally died, meaning that they will not update their life statuses online until they manage to collect $1 million. They are taking part in the “Digital Death Campaign” intended to raise money for the Keep a Child Alive foundation, which benefits AIDS efforts in Africa and India. What a good initiave!

You (including me) too can help to decrease these cases by 2015..

Join the campaigns and create awareness to others. We can also donate to various organizations that aim to help our AIDS friends to continue their lives in happiness. Spread the love, not the HIV!!! TURN RED to support!!!
